As your Member of Legislative Assembly for Nampally, I, Mohammad Majid Hussain, am deeply committed to fostering a vibrant, prosperous, and inclusive future for every resident of our constituency. My journey in public service is rooted in a profound belief in direct action and community empowerment, a belief that has guided me from my early days to my current role.
A Journey Forged in Service
From my roots in Hyderabad, I was drawn to public service from a young age, resolved to show what I could achieve through serving the community.. Hand-picked by AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, I embarked on a political journey that saw me elected as Corporator for Ahmednagar in 2009. At just 31, I had the honour of becoming the youngest Mayor of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in 2012 , a significant milestone for our party after a 12-year gap. My commitment to local governance continued as Corporator for Mehdipatnam in 2016 and 2020.3 In 2023, I was privileged to be elected as your MLA for Nampally, securing victory by a margin of 2,037 votes.
My daily routine includes dedicating 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Darussalam and 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Nampally office, where I personally meet with constituents to resolve grievances, ensuring direct and accessible public service.1 This hands-on approach is central to my ethos.
A Proven Track Record of Impact
My tenure in public office has been marked by tangible results that directly benefit our community:
• Livelihood Restoration: One of my most satisfying achievements was successfully helping approximately 30 families who lost their livelihoods during a government demolition drive in Gudimalkapur, providing them with new means of sustenance. This demonstrated a direct, tangible impact on vulnerable constituents.
• Housing for All: I have been actively involved in securing housing for our residents. In Bhojagutta, Nampally, 520 families have already received their allotment papers under the 2BHK housing scheme, with plans for 1,800 more houses across 73 blocks. I am committed to ensuring the completion of all pending 2BHK projects and securing land for “Indiramma houses” for eligible residents.
• Community Engagement: During the recent elections, I personally conducted over 480 group meetings, connecting directly with our constituents to understand their needs and aspirations.
My Vision for Nampally: Progress for Every Resident
Nampally, as Constituency No. 63, is a vital part of Hyderabad, a city with a total of 309,362 electors 4 and a rich cultural tapestry where Telugu and Urdu are the principal languages, spoken by 43.35% and 43.24% of the population respectively.6 Our constituency, part of the historic “Old City” micro-market, faces unique challenges that demand focused solutions. My vision is to transform these challenges into opportunities for growth and well-being.
• Enhanced Education: I am committed to equipping all government schools in Nampally with digital classrooms and improved infrastructure. A detailed plan is currently being drafted to make this a reality, ensuring a brighter future for our youth.
• Improved Sanitation & Public Spaces: We will tackle poor hygiene, garbage dumping, and hawker encroachments, particularly near the Gudimalkapur vegetable market, to ensure cleaner public spaces and safer pedestrian movement.
• Robust Infrastructure: My focus includes improving local roads, alleviating traffic congestion, and ensuring adequate street lighting in areas like Mallepally. These local efforts will be integrated with Hyderabad’s broader development initiatives, including the Mega Master Plan 2050, which encompasses projects like metro rail expansion, Musi river rejuvenation, and improved drinking water supply.
• Empowering Our Community: Guided by the principles of composite nationalism, Muslim minority rights, and Dalit rights, central to AIMIM’s ideology, I am dedicated to inclusive development that uplifts every section of our society.
